We all want to be a source of sunshine and a bit of magic in the world. For us dog-lovers, that often comes from being able to make a positive impact in the life of dogs, especially rescue dogs.
However, many of us cannot dedicate our lives to rescue and welfare work for animals. We contribute by adopting, fostering, donating, etc., while individuals and organisations who work tirelessly in this area provide the actual muscle.
I adopted both Bailey and June. June was adopted as a senior rescue. Someone saw an abandoned female Labrador and was thoughtful enough to get her sent to a shelter. The shelter team worked their magic, caring for her until she was fit to come home to me and enrich my life. While I learnt a lot with Bailey, June is the reason I forayed into holistic wellness, and frankly, the reason I started Pressure Kukur. This humble blog of mine has gone on to help so many dog parents and even rescuers, who now just share my posts on topics that adopters have questions on (humble brag, yes). None of this would have been possible without June and the team that rescued and cared for her.
It only makes sense to end Pressure Kukur’s senior rescue dog month with a list of dog welfare individuals and organisations. While you will use this to benefit animals in need, please also find organisations here that you can donate to, and please spread the word!
Note: This is a crowdsourced list. I asked people in my Instagram community to send me names of rescuers and organisations that they believe make a difference in the animal welfare area, and have listed the names they sent across. I reached out to each listed entity for more information about them, and have listed more information for those who responded. For the others, I could only list their name and IG account. Please contact the rescuers directly, should you require more information (many have more details in their Instagram bio). These are not just for senior rescues. Some of the names listed below may not be registered organisations. Please use your discretion. This list will be updated as new information becomes available and when I have the bandwidth to edit it.
